Planning a 50th Wedding Anniversary requires care and attention. -The Date

You need to set a date, preferably several months ahead of time. This will allow you to make the necessary adjustments to accommodate the difficult schedules of your important guests, especially if they have unavoidable conflicts on or near your chosen date.

-The Venue

As with the date, take steps to find and reserve a location for the event several weeks or even months ahead of time. Whether you intend to celebrate your golden anniversary at home, within a church hall, hotel ballroom or park to mention but a few, the sooner you make the necessary reservations, the better.

-The Invitations

Depending on the size of the event you might need to send out formal invitations, possibly several months ahead of time, especially when dealing with out-of-town guests. Consider designating someone to follow up on the guest list, reminding everyone to RSVP on time.

-Food

Short of holding your event at a restaurant, you will probably need a caterer; though, depending on the size of the event, you could just as easily treat your guests to a home cooked meal, possibly even taking steps to employ themed menu ideas.

A decorated cake is essential. If you must order the cake from a bakery, make plans to pick it up ahead of time, this allowing you’re the leeway to deal with any issues that might arise regarding your order.

-The Decorations

Select a color scheme; take into account the interests and preferences of the couple. Flowers, balloons, streamers, candles and the like might prove to be a necessity. You can use clear white lights on the trees and luminaria to line the walkway for the exterior. You could also deploy a theme of some sort, again depending on the preferences and interests of the couple in question.
