Zebra lionfish

Scientific name : Dendrochirus zebra

Lion fish with fan shaped pectoral fin, short rays that can be divided at the end. The body has a typical pattern of dark red bands, with alternating large and narrow bands. The pectoral fin shows a pattern of radial lines and concentric bands, more striking on the inner face. Long supraorbital tentacles (antennae), especially in young specimens. 18 cm. The differences with Dendrochirus brachypterus are: the more defined banded colour pattern of the body, the antennae, the radial lines on pectoral fins. The colour pattern of the body is very similar to Pterois antennata, but the short ray pectoral fin is clearly different. Antennae are longer in young specimens.
