Yellowstriped cardinalfish

Scientific name : Apogon cyanosoma


A small fish, with a maximum length of 8,0 cm; it shows yellow stripes on a bluish-silver background color on its sides, and smaller, bright blue stripes on its head.
It lives in clear waters, in sheltered zones of lagoons and seawards reefs, ranging from surface to a depth of almost 50 m.
Commonly found in aggregations of many sizes, under ledges, holes and even among spines of sea urchins. It feeds on planktonic crustaceans and small invertebrates, and has been reared in captivity.


Habitat: Lagoon, Reef flat, Reef front, Seagrass beds
