Yellow chromis

Scientific name : Chromis analis


Chromis with colour changing from brown with yellow fins to an uniform dark yellow. In our area, we observed commonly specimens with blue blotches on body and head. 15 cm. Lives in shoals along external reef and deep reef. It is a Plankton feeder. Due to the yellow colour, it can be confused with Amblyglyphidodon aureus. It has more elongate shape and darker colour. Another typical behaviour in this species: to look for shelter inside a barrel sponge. This specimen has blue blotches on the head.

Associated organisms
We observed often small shoals of this species in strong current, looking for shelter behind gorgonian tufts.


Habitat: Deep reef, Reef external slope

Distribution: Indo-West Pacific
