Wire coral shrimp
Scientific name : Pontonides unciger
Traslucent body with large opaque bandes mimicking colour and shape of the wire coral (Cirripathes sp.) tentacles, its host. Colour can change from white to orange-brown to green. 1.5 cm.
Another commensal shrimp, Dasycaris zanzibarica, can be found on the same host. It is very similar, only more spiny.
Associated organisms Always in association with the wire coral Cirripathes sp. Usually in pairs, the male is smaller.
