White-saddled cardinalfish

Scientific name : Apogon ventrifasciatus


This small fish (maximum length: 5 cm) shows a brown color on its head and back, that becomes brighter on the lower half of its body. Two white stripes on the snout and three dark thin bars on the brighter side can be seen. It also shows a white spot at the base of its dorsal fin.
It's seen sheltering close to corals during the day. It can be found in pairs or small aggregations.

Associated organisms
Juveniles associate with anemones like Macrodactyla doreensis or Entacmaea quadricolor


Habitat: Back reef, Lagoon

Distribution: Indo-West Pacific
