Whiskered pipefish
Scientific name : Halicampus macrorhynchus
Pipe fish long about 18 cm, long and thin snout, highly variable colour, with various skin appendages on snout and along the body. Very difficult to see on the sand or amongst seaweeds, extraordinarily well camouflaged.
Relatively easy to identify, more difficult to find it.
Young specimens are usually covered with dense skin flaps. In adults flaps can be less developed.
