Urchin shrimp

Scientific name : Periclimenes hirsutus


Small commensal shrimp, brown colour with a longitudinal white line along the sides. Large eyes, elongated rostrum and claws. 1,5 cm.
Other species in our area can be found on sea urchins, like Stegopontonia commensalis e Gnatophylloides mineri. The former is similar by colour pattern, but identified by the elongated shape.

Associated organisms
Associated with the sea urchin Astropyga radiata.


Habitat: Coastal bay, Lagoon, Sand

Distribution: Indo-West Pacific
