Ternate chromis
Scientific name : Chromis ternatensis
Grey chromis, with dusky edge of scales, black lines along upper and lower margin of the caudal fin. White eye. 10 cm. Almost always associated with branching corals. It can seek for shelter among the branches. This is part of a group of small chromis species, sometimes difficult to identify. The group includes (amongst the species described here) Chromis atripes, Chromis amboinensis, Chromis lepidolepis, Chromis elerae, C. ternatensis, Chromis weberi. A good system to distinguish between them, is to look carefully at the spots on the fins and at the eye's colour.
