Stripe-leg spiny lobster

Scientific name : Panulirus femoristriga

Like all spiny lobsters it has no claws, 2 spiny rostra over the eyes, and it has 2 pairs of large antennae, the first double ended, the second hard and spiny, of a light colour. Body is dark brown, with short spines and scattered white spots. Legs are dark brown with longitudinal white lines. 30 cm
Commonly encountered along external reef, deep reef and caves. At night it leaves the shelters.
Possible confusion with P. penicillatus, the latter has dark antennae. P. longipes, another similar species, has a different colour pattern on the legs (spotted).
