Stained collector urchin

Scientific name : Pseudoboletia maculata


Short spined urchin, spines are uniformly distributed. Dark blotches on the test. Test diameter 7 cm.
Uncommon, it lives in bay and lagoon, on sandy or rubble bottoms. It likes to cover itself with rubble and detritus.
Identified from Pseudoboletia indiana by the uniform white colour, from Salmacis belli by the thicker spines.
