Staghorn sergeant

Scientific name : Amblyglyphidodon curacao


Deep oval shape, golden colour on sides, blue-green on back, silvery-white on belly, with 3 faint bars along sides. 13 cm. Living on reef front, back reef, in lagoon, often in large shoals. A Plankton feeder. Distinguished from Amblyglyphidodon leucogaster by the colour pattern, with side bars. For the colour is close to some Chromis species (Chromis viridis, Chromis atripectoralis), it is distinguished by the deeper shape and by the fainted bars along sides.

Associated organisms
Often close to branching Acropora colonies.


Habitat: Back reef, Lagoon, Reef front

Distribution: Western Pacific
