Spurcheeck cardinalfish

Scientific name : Apogon fraenatus

Long about 10 cm, this fish looks like Apogon kallopterus due to the stripe on its sides and the black spot on the caudal peduncle, which, however, in this species is centered and tends to fade out at night or in deep waters.
It can be found in clear waters on reef and lagoon flats and seaward reefs, at least to a depth of 25 mt, singly or in small groups.

Habitat: Back reef, Lagoon

Distribution: Indo-West Pacific, Red sea
