The male, derivating from an old female (this species is hermaphroditic), has white spotted black back and yellow spotted blue sides, with a yellow line separating black and blue. 16 cm. It feeds on sponges and other invertebrates. n our area confusion is possible with Ostracion solorensis, that in female phases is striped, in male phases has never yellow spots.
