Speckled damsel

Scientific name : Pomacentrus bankanensis


Small brown damsel with orange forehead, white tail. A prominent false eye with blue edges on the dorsal fin. Blue lines and dots on head and fins, a blue median line along the forehead. 9 cm. It feeds primarily on filamentous algae. Very similar to Pomacentrus vaiuli. The latter has no white tail neither median blue line on the forehead.


Habitat: Back reef, Lagoon, Sand

Distribution: Western Pacific
