Speckled butterflyfish

Scientific name : Chaetodon citrinellus


Small (13 cm) butterfly fish, yellowish colour, with black band covering the eye, dotted along the sides, black edge of anal fin. Usually common on back reef and reef front. Lives in pairs, feeds on a variety of sources: corals, other benthic invertebrates, algae. Many similar species are not present in our area. Distinguished from Chaetodon guentheri for the white fins, generally from all the similar species for the black edge of anal fin.

Distribution: Indo-Pacific
