Spanner crab

Scientific name : Ranina ranina


Strange crab, with oval, spiny, long carapace. The abdomen is visible, hanging on the back, when the crab moves. Large claws, long stalked eyes. Orange colour. The male, with carapace as long as 14 cm, is very larger than the female.
The shape is unmistakable.


Habitat: Coastal bay, Lagoon, Sand

Distribution: Indo-Pacific
