Snapping shrimp
Scientific name : Alpheus cf. pacificus
Colour translucent, grey-greenish. Claws are strongly asymmetrical, the larger can produce a strong snapping sound. 4.5 cm. Common but not easy to see, living in lagoon or in the back reef, under stones or in self-dug burrows.
Belonging to Alpheus edwardsii species complex, characterized by the larger claw strongly developed. Many species share a similar colour pattern, determination from a photo is almost impossible.
Associated organisms With crinoids, but not obligate.
