Snake sea anemone

Scientific name : Actinostephanus haeckeli


Anemone with 12 or more large, snake like tentacles, at the edge of a flattened oral disc. Mottled brown or grey-greenish colour. Large tubercles are present on the tentacles, sometimes branching. Diameter (with the tentacles enlarged) up to 60 cm. Unique appearence.


Habitat: Lagoon, Sand

Distribution: Western Pacific
