Slender grouper

Scientific name : Anyperodon leucogrammicus


A modest-sized grouper (maximum length: 65 cm), it is quite visible: its background color is white, with two thick darker stripes along the dorsal portion of its sides, and many orange dots on the whole body. Juveniles show alternating blue and red stripes.
it lives in coral-rich areas, in clear waters on lagoon and seaward reefs. It feeds mostly on fish and maybe crustaceans. Juveniles mimic the wrasse Halichoeres purpurescens.

Distribution: Indo-Pacific, Red sea
