Sergeant major

Scientific name : Abudefduf vaigiensis


Oval, silvery body, with yellow back. Five vertical black bands. Transparent V shaped tail. 20 cm. Living along the reef front and external reef, down to 12 m depth, or in lagoon. It is a plankton feeder, living in shoals, swimming even to a certain distance from the reef. Very similar to Abudefduf sexfasciatus, immediately distinguished by the tail colour pattern.
