Scalopped hammerhead
Scientific name : Sphyrna lewini
Large shark, can reach 3 m. Head hammer shaped with an indentation in the middle, wide expansions arched backward. Large dorsal fin, pectoral fins with dark margins. Feeds on bony and chartilagineous fish, squids, crustaceans. Normally indifferent to divers, can become aggressive when baited.
It is the typical social species, forming large school, occasionally close to the reef.
