Scalefin Anthias

Scientific name : Pseudanthias squamipinnis


Color patterns vary from one locality to another. Generally red with some small orange spots and a larger violet spot on the body side. Third ray of the dorsal fin very long. Females are orange, with some bands starting from the eye until the pectoral fin. Form large aggregations above coral outcrops or patch reefs of clear lagoon, channels, or external reef. Feed on zooplankton. Males are territorial and haremic. Females could be confused with P.sheni or Pseudanthias pleurotaenia.
