Sawfishes
Scientific name : Pristiformes
Sawfishes owe their name to the peculiar appendage on their snout, covered with many sensitive pores that let the fish even perceive the heartbeat of their prey. They can also use it as a digging tool to hunt and as a "mace" to fight predators and intruders and to stun their preys.
They spend most of their time on the bottom; their flat body masks them against the muddy bottoms they live in. They usually inhabit shallow waters, both in freshwater and saltwater, and many live at river mouths.
They aren't very aggressive, despite their look, and usually attack only if threatened or frightened. They are nocturnal predators, and can be even 7 metres long.
