Redfin Anthias

Scientific name : Pseudanthias dispar


Anthias with orange/yellow or pink body, with a lavender or violet head. Males have an evident red dorsal fin, while females are light orange, with two small stripes between the eye and the pectoral fin. Mainly on the external reef, they make small groups with females outnumbering males; Plankton-feeding fish, they usually swim 1-3 meters above the substrate. Possible confusion with several other anthias species, distinguishable by the evident strong red dorsal fin.

Associated organisms
Possibly mixed with other anhias species.


Habitat: Reef external slope

Distribution: Western Pacific
