Randall's frogfish

Scientific name : Antennarius randalli


Small size frog fish, relatively compressed. The 3rd dorsal spine is connected with the soft fin through a membrane. Short illicium. Variable colour, from yellow to orange-red, to brown-black, often with 2 white sposts on the tail. 4 cm.
Often hides amongst seaweeds, sponges, or various objects.
Confusion is possible with the other small species (Antennarius nummifer, Antennarius coccineus), it is distinguished by the shape of the dorsal fin, with a membrane connecting the soft part with the 3rd spine.


Habitat: Coastal bay, Lagoon, Reef external slope

Distribution: Pacific Ocean
