Radial file fish

Scientific name : Rudarius minutus


Small beige file fish, with large orange spots on all the body. Few large skin flaps, long hair on the males' caudal peduncle. Snout profile obviously concave. 5 cm. The colour pattern is unique among many small sized species that can share the same environment in association with gorgonians or soft corals (ex. Acreichthys radiatus).

Associated organisms
With different species of gorgonians, soft corals, and the fire coral (Millepora sp.), used as shelter.


Habitat: Reef external slope, Reef front

Distribution: Western Pacific
