Scientific name : Pseudosquilla ciliata


Small spearer, variable in colour, always matching the background: green among algae and seagrasses, black on volcanic black sand, whitish in the coral sand, almost always with white spots and a broad lateral white band. 6 cm.
This animal belongs to the superfamily Gonodactyloidea, together with all the smashers. Having spiny raptorial appendages, it is actually a spearer (the only exception). Is circumtropical.
It is distinguishable by the colour pattern.

Associated organisms
Sometimes, but not necessarily, with sea grasses
