Small (2.5 cm) seahorse. The colour is variable, from white to yellow or brown, often with red markings. Two branching back spines, anterior to the dorsal fin. High coronet. Due to the small size, it has a generic resemblance with other pygmy seahorses, Hippocampus bargibanti and Hippocampus denise. Distinguished by the colour, py the missing tubercles and by the 2 dorsal spines. Observe also the new Hippocampus sp. 2, recently photographed on shallow living soft corals.
