Pom pom anemone

Scientific name : Triactis sp.


Small anemone, 1 cm diameter. white or brown colour, conical tentacles. Found in the claws of the crab Lybia tessellata.
Impossible to confound, especially for the habitat.

Associated organisms
Always associated with the crab Lybia tessellata, that holds an anemone in each claws, moving them ryithmically like pom-poms. This is a mutualistic symbiosis: the crab is protected by the anemone's stinging cells, this latter in change is transportes and can find the food more easily.


Habitat: Lagoon, Sand

Distribution: Indo-Pacific
