Plated star

Scientific name : Neoferdina glyptodisca

Small sea star with 5 triangular, flattened arms. Purple red colour, with large marginal plates. Red plates scattered on the upper side. 7 cm diameter.
Encountered in lagoon and in the back reef.
Not very different from Fromia monilis or Fromia nodosa, distinguished by the red plates (cream or yellow in Fromia).
