Peeble crab

Scientific name : Leucosia sp.

Crab with rounded, almost spherical carapace. Long legs, a typica swelling on the claws, before the pince. Brown reddish colour, legs with a light banding, claws with typical spots on the first segments.
Photographed in Lembeh Strait.
Photographed in coastal bay, at night.
Possible confusion with a common species in our area, Leucosia pubescens. The colour is distinctive. The shape of the claws, typically swollen before the mandible, is closer to the genus Ilia (Ilia nucleus is an Atlantic-Mediterranean species).
