Peacock grouper

Scientific name : Cephalopholis argus

About 60,0 cm long, this fish has a very peculiar coloration: the background color is brown, with many white spots on the whole body, five or six pale bars on the rear part and a clear white blotch on the chest.
It's a rather common species, found in many different kinds of coral habitats, ranging from tidal pools to 40 m deep, though it prefers not going below 10 m deep. Juveniles can be found mostly in shallow areas.
It feeds on fish and, to a lesser extent, on crustaceans. In the Red Sea, it feeds mostly in the morning and in the late afternoon, while at Madagascar it seems to feed mainly at night.
Implied in some ciguatera poisoning cases.
