Painted comber

Scientific name : Serranus scriba


A grouper of moderate size (maximum length: 36,0 cm), it has a very peculiar coloration: the background color is white-pinkish, with many thick brown vertical bars on the body and a white blotch on its sides right before the anal fin; its tail and caudal peduncle are yellow, while its snout shows a brown stripe on the upper part, small brown dots below and many fine lines on the dorsal part of the snout.
it can be found on rocky bottoms and Posidonia beds. It feeds on fish and crustaceans.


Habitat: Rock, Seagrass beds

Distribution: East Atlantic Ocean, Mediterranean Sea
