Northern scorpion fish

Scientific name : Parascorpaena picta


Scorpion fish identified by the many skin flaps and tentacles all over the body. Orbital tentacles very prominent. Short snout, variable colour between brown and red. 16 cm. Similar to many Scorpaenopsis species (see for example Scorpaenopsis venosa). The many skin tentacles are distinctive.


Habitat: Coastal bay, Lagoon

Distribution: Indo-West Pacific
