Nembrotha cristata

Scientific name : Nembrotha cristata


Soft body, large gills that can not be retracted into a poket (typical in Nembrotha). Black colour with prominent green pustules. Black gills with green border, also green border of the foot. 12 cm.
Confusion is possible with other Nembrotha species, in particular with Nembrotha kubaryana that can have different degree of red markings but that always has a red margin surrounding foot and head.

Associated organisms
Often in association with arborescent bryozoans and with social ascidians, its food. In our area we have observed it often feeding on the ascidian Oxycorynia fascicularis.
