Moluccas seahorse
Scientific name : Hippocampus moluccensis
Lenght until 16 cm, thick snout, not very long. Colour from brown to purple, often with 3-4 darker saddles between neck and dorsal fin. This is another species belonging to the kuda complex, like Hippocampus taeniopterus, very similar. Compared to the latter, H. moluccensis is slightly smaller and with higher crown.
Associated organisms Often found with tail wrapped up seaweeds or sponges. Back can be covered with filamentous algae or hydroids.
