Melibe fimbriata

Scientific name : Melibe fimbriata

Huge dendronotacean nudibranch (up to 20 cm), different from other nudibranches for an oral hood shaped veil, used to catch the preys. Green-brown colour, well camouflaged and difficult to see amongst algae and on sand. Living on sandy bottoms, covered with seaweeds or seagrasses, in bay and lagoon. It feeds on small crustaceans, that catches using the large oral veil.
Easy to identify, at a first glance confusion is possible with the aeolidacean Phyllodesmium longicirrum, mainly due to the size.
