Lobster
Scientific name : Homarus gammarus
It is the biggest of the mediterranean crustaceans, being able to reach 60 cm of length and some kilos of weight.
It is long-shaped, but quite robust; the brown or blue carapace, with lighter stains and orange portions make it unmistakable with other crustaceans. The claws are big and asymmetrical, one able to cut and the other to crash. It has two pair of red antennae, the first very long, and the second double ended.
It lives on hard bottoms, usually below ten meters of depth, in quite cold waters; at night it moves from shelters to feed on molluscs and other benthic organisms, but it may feed also on algae and decaying carcasses.
