Latticed butterfly fish

Scientific name : Chaetodon rafflesi


Medium size (15 cm) butterfly fish, yellow with black eye band and reticulated pattern on sides. Black band on back of caudal fin, blue nape. Living in area with good hard coral cover, mainly on back reef and reef front. It feeds on soft and hard coral polyps, but also on anemones, polychaetes, algae, fish eggs. Clearly distinguishable by the colour pattern. The similar Chaetodon semeion has a dorsal fin filament and no black band on tail.
