Lamarck's angel fish

Scientific name : Genicanthus lamarcki


Medium size angel fish (23 cm), elongated, tail ending in two filaments. The male has a black and white horizontally striped colour pattern, with a golden spot on the nape and black ventral fins. The female has the most dorsal stripe larger than the others and white ventral fins. In small aggregations swimming close to the bottom, along the external reef and deep reef, especially along slopes with sandy areas or at the reef basis. It feeds on Plankton. Other Genicanthus have similar colour pattern.
