Half spotted grouper

Scientific name : Cephalopholis hemistiktos


About 35,0 cm long, this grouper shows a bright red background color, which tends to yellow on the most caudal part of its back and to black on the caudal fin. Many white spots can be seen on the snout and on the anal and caudal fins.
It can be seen on open reef areas; diurnal, it feeds on fish and crustaceans.
Monogamous, the pair defends its territory.

Distribution: Red sea, Western Indian Ocean
