Gymnodoris ceylonica

Scientific name : Gymnodoris ceylonica


Large, translucent white nudibranch, with red spots, longitudinal red lines on the large gills, orange rhinophores' tips and foot's edge. 12 cm. Living on sandy bottoms, in bay and lagoon, often in the seagrasses beds. Preys on other slugs, mainly sea hares. Easy to identify. Other Gymnodoris species may have red or yellow spotted colour, but mostly are very small (2 cm or less).

Associated organisms
Commonly seen amongst the seagrasses, where its favourite prey, the sea hare Stylocheilus longicauda can be found.
