Green marble shrimp

Scientific name : Saron neglectus


Shrimp with a large, long, upward rostrum, and with typical hair tufts (cirri) on the back, below the abdomen and on the claws (in the male longer than in the female).
Typical colour pattern of round white, black centered spots alternated with green spots. Two large eyepots on the abdomen hump, other 2 on the tail. Legs and claws have a transverse light and dark green bands. 3 cm. Many undescribed Saron species still exist, all very similar. Saron neglectus have a different colour pattern from Saron marmoratus and Saron sp., is smaller and less hairy.

Associated organisms
Associated with branching hard corals, it hides among the branches, more deeply during the daytime.


Habitat: Back reef, Lagoon

Distribution: Pacific Ocean
