Gorgonian wrapper

Scientific name : Nemanthus annamensis


Small anemone, 4-5 cm tall polyps. The basal part of the column, wide, is enwrapped around the skeleton of gorgonians and black corals. Brown mottled column, white tentacles.
Different colour variations exist, possibly different species still to describe. Nemanthus nitidus, name used on some guide books, is another species of the cold Eastern Pacific.

Associated organisms
Always with gorgonians (Octocorallia, Alcyonacea) or black corals. It is found enwrapped to dead parts of the gorgonian, it is not completely clear if it can kill the colony, or if it settles after this event.
