Gorgonian shrimp

Scientific name : Hamodactylus noumeae

Always found on gorgonians, the back, rostrum and tail are transparent; the lower part of the body, red or yellow, always match the host's colour. 1 cm.
Possible confusion with Hamodactylus boschmai, that is slightly longer and more opaque in colour. To distinguish between the two species, we should consider the moveable finger of the second claws, that is twice the lenght of the fixed one in H. boschmai, almost the same lenght in H. noumeae, but this needs obviously microscopic examination.

Associated organisms
Always with different species of gorgonians.
