Gorgonian shrimp

Scientific name : Hamodactylus boschmai

Shrimp living on many different gorgonian species, red in colour with irregular white bands, but colour variations can be conspicuous. It always matches the colour of its host gorgonian. 1 cm.
Possible confusion with Hamodactylus noumeae, that is slightly shorter and more transparent in colour. To distinguish between the two species, we should consider the moveable finger of the second claws, that is twice the lenght of the fixed one in H. boschmai, almost the same lenght in H. noumeae, but this needs obviously microscopic examination.

Associated organisms
With many different species of gorgonians.
