Girdled cardinalfish

Scientific name : Archamia zosterophora


About 8,0 cm long, this fish can be easily identified by two orange vertical stripes on the operculum and by a black spot on the caudal peduncle. There's also a black, wide, vertical band below the second dorsal fin, but it's rather variable in width and darkness, even with geographical variations.
Nocturnal, it forms dense aggregations on branching corals in sheltered lagoons, on sandy bottoms up to 40 mt deep.
