Ghost crab

The typical beach crab, encountered out of the water. It has the same colour as the sand on which it lives, large claws with saw-like edge, elongated stalked eyes. 5 cm. It moves very quickly, digging burrows that renews continuously (destroyed by the rising tide). It enters the sea only for releasing the planktonic larvae. Uca crabs share the same environment, but are easy to identify due to the strongly asymmetrical claws.
