Günther's butterfly fish

Scientific name : Chaetodon guentheri

White butterfly fish, with black band covering the eye, yellow fins with black-white edge, horizontal dotted yellow lines. Living along the deep reef, usually in coral rich areas. Rare in Manado, we encountered it only twice, always at depth around 50 m. It is a rare species at the tropics, more common at higher latitudes, N and S. Possible confusion with Chaetodon selene. The black band at the back in the latter is the more obvious difference.
